We have just been notified that the school we are staying at has found us some beds. (Not sure if there is bedding) so we won’t be on the floor. We will have showers and bathrooms which is great.

The PGLT still suggests bringing your sleeping bags and mats as you will need them for the sleep out at Cuatro Vientos.

WYD Cultural Program Participants Must Be Endorsed by Bishops’ Conferences

It has come to our attention that Michael Voris, a US based media producer, is scheduled to offer independent catechesis sessions out of a hotel in Madrid during World Youth Day 2011. There has been some confusion regarding his affiliation with World Youth Day. Michael Voris, the clergy and the laity associated with him, and their media efforts “Real Catholic TV” and “No Bull in Madrid” are not in any way recognized or approved by World Youth Day 2011. A journey of faith for ALP members

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

The latest news from the WYD Madrid site.

A modern day pilgrimage: walking to Cuatro Vientos

July 21 – In the middle ages men and women of faith who travelled to the Holy Land to see the sites of Jesus’ life marked themselves with tattoos to show that they had made the voyage. With the advent of modern means of transportation, today the only obstacle to making such a voyage is the cost. Perhaps then, it’s time to re-capture the value of pilgrimage: a journey that leaves room for prayer and the action of the Holy Spirit. (more…)

Valencia – Days in the Diocese

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

Days in the Diocese will take place in 61 Spanish dioceses, plus Gibraltar and Bayonne, from August 11-15, before the days in Madrid.

The programme will change from one diocese to another, but it always includes first celebrations of our faith in Jesus-Christ, cultural activities, and visits to local sites of interest.

Spain is a treasure chest of shrines and sanctuaries that have forged the local religious identity. Each diocese will offer free accommodation in schools, church halls, gyms or family households. As for meals, it varies from one diocese to another: some dioceses will offer the meals, others will ask the pilgrims for a fee. View the link to look at the activities being offered to the Armidale/Lismore group.
